Surgical Removal Of Leftover Tooth Root

South Dakota rates for HCPCS D7250

Surgical removal of a root fragment left behind in the jawbone after the crown of a tooth is already gone, such as after a tooth broke off or was extracted incompletely. Because there is no visible tooth crown to grip, the gum has to be opened and some bone removed to reach and take out the root piece. It differs from a simple extraction, which removes a whole tooth that is still visible.
