A hospital evaluation and management service for the first day of caring for a newborn, 28 days old or younger, who needs frequent monitoring and extra interventions beyond routine newborn care but is not critically ill. It reflects the more intensive, hands-on level of care some newborns need without meeting the threshold of critical, life-threatening illness.
