The doctor's care of a critically ill young child on the first day in a pediatric intensive care unit, where the child needs constant monitoring and frequent adjustment of life-supporting treatment. It covers the whole day's work, including reviewing test results, managing breathing and circulation support, and speaking with the family. It is charged once for that day rather than per visit to the bedside.
