A trained technician works face to face with the patient, under the direction of a supervising clinician, running structured activities and recording exactly how the person responds. What is observed shows what sets off and what keeps up particular behaviors, and feeds into an individual behavior treatment plan, most often for autism spectrum disorder. It is a service in its own right, billed in timed increments of the technician's face-to-face time.
