Complete Needle EMG of an Arm or Leg

Vermont rates for HCPCS 95886

In this procedure, a thin needle electrode is inserted briefly into several muscles of one arm or leg to record the electrical signals those muscles produce, which helps show whether a muscle or the nerve supplying it is working normally. It is done as the complete version of the test, checking a broad enough set of muscles to cover multiple nerves or nerve roots in that limb, and is typically performed together with a separate test that measures how fast electrical signals travel along the nerves. Together the two tests help pinpoint problems like a pinched nerve, nerve damage, or a muscle disorder.
