Single-Fiber Needle Muscle Test

A specialized needle-based muscle test that examines the electrical signal timing between individual muscle fibers that share the same nerve supply, providing a very detailed measure of how well signals are being passed from nerve to muscle. It is more sensitive than a standard needle muscle exam and is often used to help diagnose conditions affecting the connection between nerves and muscles, such as myasthenia gravis. A thin needle electrode is inserted into the muscle to take these measurements.
