This overnight sleep study is performed on a child younger than 6 and includes attaching sensors that track brain waves, breathing, oxygen levels, and other body signals throughout the night, while a technologist watches over the study. During the same night, if breathing problems are confirmed, the child is started on a positive airway pressure device, and the settings are adjusted in real time to find the level that keeps their airway open. This combines diagnosis and treatment set-up into a single overnight visit.
