Heart Rhythm Study Through The Esophagus With Pacing
Delaware rates for HCPCS 93616
A heart rhythm study in which a thin wire electrode is passed through the nose or mouth into the esophagus, which lies directly behind the heart, to record electrical signals from the upper chambers. In this version the same electrode is also used to pace the heart, delivering small timed electrical impulses to bring out a rhythm problem so it can be identified. It avoids the need to place wires inside the heart itself.
