Catheter Closure of a Patent Ductus Arteriosus

Pennsylvania rates for HCPCS 93582

A thin tube is threaded through a blood vessel, usually from the groin, up to the heart so that a small plug or coil can be placed into a vessel connection that should have sealed shut shortly after birth. Closing it stops blood from taking a shortcut between the two main arteries leaving the heart. It achieves the repair without opening the chest.
