Blood Flow Measurement Inside a Heart Artery

Vermont rates for HCPCS 93571

This covers using a specialized pressure- or flow-sensing wire inside an artery of the heart to determine how much a narrowing is limiting blood flow, sometimes combined with a medication that temporarily increases blood flow to get a clearer reading. The measurement helps a doctor decide whether a narrowing needs to be treated with a stent or other procedure, rather than relying on the image alone. This is performed during a heart catheterization.
