Imaging From Inside A Heart Artery, First Vessel

Wyoming rates for HCPCS 92978

A miniature imaging probe is threaded through a catheter into a heart artery or bypass graft to look at the vessel wall from the inside, using either sound waves or a light-based scan. The pictures show the true size of the vessel and what the narrowing is made of, in far more detail than X-ray pictures alone, which guides the choice and sizing of treatment. This covers the first vessel imaged and is billed in addition to the main procedure.
