Tone Decay Hearing Test

Massachusetts rates for HCPCS 92563

In this hearing test, an audiologist plays a steady tone at a comfortable volume for an extended period and asks the patient to signal for as long as they can still hear it. If the ability to perceive the tone fades quickly, that pattern can help distinguish between different possible causes of hearing loss. It is one of several special tests used alongside a standard hearing exam.
