Electrical Testing of the Facial Nerve

Measures how well the facial nerve is carrying electrical signals to the muscles of the face. Small electrodes stimulate the nerve in front of the ear while others record the muscle response, and the weak side is compared with the healthy one. The size of the difference shows how badly the nerve is damaged and helps predict recovery from facial weakness.
