A single injection that protects against hepatitis B, a virus that attacks the liver, and against Haemophilus influenzae type b, a bacterium that can cause meningitis and other serious infections in young children. Combining the two into one shot means fewer injections for an infant. It is given into a muscle as part of the routine childhood schedule.
