The child and adolescent strength of the vaccine that protects against hepatitis A, a liver infection spread through contaminated food or water and close contact. It is given as a shot into the muscle of the upper arm or thigh, and lasting protection builds over a course of doses spaced months apart. It contains killed virus, so it cannot cause the infection.
