BCG Placed Into the Bladder for Cancer

South Carolina rates for HCPCS 90586

A dose of BCG, a live weakened bacterium, supplied for putting directly into the bladder through a catheter as a treatment for early bladder cancer. It works by provoking the immune system to attack abnormal cells in the bladder lining, and is usually given as a course of weekly treatments followed by top-up doses. The charge covers the product itself; putting it into the bladder is billed separately.
