A laboratory technique in which fluorescent probes attach to specific spots on the chromosomes inside cells, making those regions light up under a microscope. Cells are then examined to check for missing, extra, or rearranged chromosome material. It is used alongside standard chromosome analysis to detect changes too small to see otherwise.
