Rapid Combination HIV Antigen And Antibody Test

Vermont rates for HCPCS 87806

This is a rapid laboratory test performed on a blood sample that checks at the same time for a piece of the HIV virus itself and for antibodies the immune system makes against HIV. Testing for both together can detect infection earlier than an antibody-only test, because the virus piece can appear in the blood before the body has had time to make antibodies. It gives a single combined result rather than separate antigen and antibody results.
