Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Viral Load Test

Connecticut rates for HCPCS 87497

A blood or other body fluid sample is tested to measure the amount of cytomegalovirus (CMV) genetic material present, giving a quantitative viral load result rather than simply detecting whether the virus is present. This is commonly used to monitor CMV in people with weakened immune systems, such as transplant recipients.
