Influenza B Antigen Test, Fluorescent Stain

Vermont rates for HCPCS 87275

Looks directly for influenza B virus in a specimen taken from the patient, such as a nose or throat swab, using an antibody tagged with fluorescent dye that a laboratory scientist views under a special microscope. It finds the organism itself in the sample rather than measuring the patient's own antibody response to it. A positive result means the virus was present at that site when the sample was taken.
