Giardia Test Using Fluorescent Antibodies

West Virginia rates for HCPCS 87269

A laboratory test on a stool sample that looks for giardia, a parasite picked up from contaminated water or food that causes prolonged diarrhea, cramping and bloating. Antibodies carrying a fluorescent dye are mixed with the sample, and the parasite glows under a special microscope if it is present.
