Blood Crossmatch Using Antiglobulin Method

Utah rates for HCPCS 86922

Checks that a specific unit of donor blood is safe for a patient by mixing the patient's plasma with the donor's red cells, incubating the mixture, and then adding a reagent that reveals antibody stuck to the cell surface. This is the most sensitive laboratory crossmatch and catches antibodies that faster methods miss. It is performed once for each unit of blood checked.
