Antibody Test For Rickettsial Infection

West Virginia rates for HCPCS 86757

Looks in the blood for antibodies against Rickettsia, a group of bacteria carried by ticks, fleas, lice and mites that cause illnesses such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever and typhus. It is used when someone has fever, headache and a rash after a possible bite or exposure. Antibodies take days to build up, so a sample taken early and another a couple of weeks later are often compared.
