HIV-1 Antibody Blood Test

Utah rates for HCPCS 86701

Looks in a blood sample for antibodies the immune system makes against HIV type 1, the form of the virus responsible for the great majority of infections worldwide. It detects the body's response to the virus rather than the virus itself, so it can take some weeks after an exposure before the result turns positive. A positive result is always followed by confirmatory testing.
