Phenylalanine (PKU) Blood Test

A blood test that measures the level of phenylalanine, an amino acid from food, in the blood. It is used mainly in newborn screening to detect phenylketonuria (PKU), an inherited condition in which the body cannot properly break phenylalanine down.
