Homovanillic Acid (HVA) Test

Washington, DC rates for HCPCS 83150

Measures homovanillic acid, one of the substances left over when the body breaks down dopamine, a chemical messenger made by nerve cells. Raised levels can point to a tumor arising from nerve tissue, most often neuroblastoma in young children. It is usually measured in urine and interpreted alongside related chemical tests rather than on its own.
