Hemoglobin Screening By Copper Sulfate

West Virginia rates for HCPCS 83026

A quick, hands-on check of the hemoglobin level in blood, the protein in red cells that carries oxygen, done by dropping blood into a prepared solution and watching how it behaves rather than running it through an analyzer. It gives a fast pass-or-fail style answer about whether the level is above a set point. It is most often used to screen blood donors or to screen for anemia where a full laboratory count is not immediately available.
