Galactose Enzyme Activity Blood Test

Vermont rates for HCPCS 82775

Measures how well a particular enzyme in red blood cells breaks down galactose, one of the sugars found in milk. A low result means the sugar builds up in the body instead of being used, which makes infants who drink milk seriously ill. The result is reported as a measured level of enzyme activity rather than a simple positive or negative.
