Rhode Island rates for HCPCS 82726

This blood test measures very long chain fatty acids, a type of fat molecule that builds up abnormally in certain rare inherited metabolic conditions, most notably adrenoleukodystrophy. It's typically ordered when a child or adult has symptoms suggesting one of these conditions, such as unexplained nerve or hormone gland problems, or as a follow-up to an abnormal newborn screening result. It requires only a standard blood draw.
