PET Scan Of Blood Flow To The Heart Muscle

South Carolina rates for HCPCS 78431

A nuclear scan that shows how well blood reaches the heart muscle. A small amount of radioactive tracer is injected and a PET camera records where it travels, so areas of muscle receiving too little blood — a sign of narrowed heart arteries — stand out. It is used to investigate chest pain and to judge how severe known coronary disease is.
