A PET scan that measures how well blood reaches the heart muscle, done together with a CT scan taken at the same time to sharpen the pictures. Areas receiving too little blood show up as cold spots, pointing to narrowed or blocked heart arteries. It gives a more detailed picture of heart muscle blood supply than a conventional nuclear stress scan.
