Nuclear Scan for Abnormal Intestinal Tissue

Nebraska rates for HCPCS 78290

A nuclear medicine scan of the intestine, most often used to find a small pouch left over from development that can contain stomach-type lining and cause bleeding. A tracer taken up by stomach lining is injected, and a spot of uptake outside the stomach marks where the abnormal tissue sits. The scan can also show a twisted loop of bowel.
