An ultrasound examination of the eye that combines two types of imaging — a two-dimensional picture of the eye's internal structures and a separate measurement scan — performed together at the same visit. It is used to evaluate the inside of the eye when the view is blocked, such as by a cataract or bleeding, or to check for a mass, detached retina, or other structural problem. It does not use radiation and is painless.
