Removal of the sleeve of clot-like material that can build up around the outside of a long-term intravenous catheter and stop it working. Working under X-ray guidance through a puncture in a separate vein, a snare or similar device strips the sleeve away, and the imaging is supervised and interpreted by a radiologist.
