Imaging of the veins that drain the liver. A thin tube is guided through a vein into the liver, contrast dye is injected so the vessels show up on X-ray, and the pressure inside those veins is measured at the same time. The pressure readings help show whether blood is backing up in the liver, as happens with liver scarring.
