X-ray Of The Gallbladder After Swallowing Contrast

Maryland rates for HCPCS 74290

This is an x-ray study of the gallbladder taken after the patient swallows a contrast pill the day before, which travels through the digestive system and collects in the gallbladder to outline it clearly on the images. It has largely been replaced by ultrasound but may still be used to look at gallbladder shape, stones, or how well it empties. No injection or sedation is involved.
