Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening

Illinois rates for HCPCS 71271

A CT scan of the chest performed using a reduced radiation dose, specifically designed to screen people at higher risk for lung cancer, such as long-term smokers, before any symptoms appear. It's done without contrast dye and aims to catch early, small lung nodules that might not be visible on a standard chest X-ray. It's meant for routine screening rather than for investigating an existing symptom.
