A balloon on a fine catheter is guided through the nose, using a camera, into the tube that links the middle ear to the back of the nose, and inflated briefly to widen it. Doing so helps the ear equalize pressure and drain, easing long-standing fullness, popping, muffled hearing and pain. This covers treatment of the tube on both sides in the same session.
