Rebuilding a whole eyelid that has been lost or removed, usually after cancer surgery or a serious injury. A flap containing lining and the firm supporting layer is borrowed from the opposing eyelid of the same eye and moved across to form the new lid. This is the single-stage version, or the first stage of a repair completed later.
