Corrects a drooping upper eyelid by slinging a strip of tough connective tissue between the lid and the muscle that rotates the eye upward, so that looking up lifts the lid with it. It works around the lid-lifting muscle rather than tightening or shortening it, which is what other versions of droopy-eyelid surgery do. It can improve appearance and, when the lid blocks the line of sight, the field of vision.
