This surgery corrects a drooping upper eyelid by attaching a thin strip of the patient's own tissue, usually taken from another part of the body, between the eyelid and the forehead muscle. The forehead muscle can then be used to help lift the eyelid, which is especially useful when the eyelid's own lifting muscle is too weak to fix directly. A separate small incision is needed to obtain the tissue used for the sling.
