This surgery corrects trichiasis, a condition in which eyelashes turn inward and rub against the eye, by making an incision along the edge of the eyelid to reposition the lash line away from the eye's surface. This version of the repair does not use a tissue graft. It is used when simpler treatments, such as plucking or destroying individual lashes, have not kept the eyelashes from growing back inward.
