Complex Cataract Surgery With Iris Support & Drainage Device

Kansas rates for HCPCS 66989

This procedure removes a cloudy lens (cataract) and replaces it with an artificial lens, while also using extra devices or techniques to hold the pupil open or support the iris, the colored ring around the pupil. In the same visit, the surgeon places a small drainage device to help control eye pressure, addressing glaucoma at the same time as the cataract. It's used when the pupil won't widen enough on its own, the iris is unstable, or eye pressure also needs to be managed surgically.
