This is a laser procedure that reshapes part of the colored ring of the eye to widen the drainage angle inside the eye where fluid normally exits. Widening this angle can help lower eye pressure or prevent a sudden, dangerous rise in pressure in eyes prone to a particular type of glaucoma where the drainage angle is too narrow or closes off. It is usually done in an office setting using a laser aimed through the front of the eye.
