This is a surgical technique used to lower pressure inside the eye in people with glaucoma. The surgeon creates a small channel between the inner chamber of the eye and a space near the outer wall of the eye, allowing fluid to drain through a new pathway and reducing internal pressure. It is an older surgical approach that has largely been replaced by newer glaucoma techniques.
