Biopsy of the Cornea

Michigan rates for HCPCS 65410

Takes a small sample of tissue from the cornea, the clear dome at the very front of the eye, so it can be examined under a microscope or grown in the laboratory. It is done when an ulcer, infection, or unusual clouding is not clearing and the cause needs to be pinned down. Only a small piece is taken, leaving the rest of the cornea intact.
