Surgical removal of a fragment or object lodged in the front chamber of the eye or in the lens itself, reached through a small incision at the edge of the cornea. Such fragments usually arrive at high speed from grinding, hammering, or an explosion and have pierced the wall of the eye. It is urgent surgery, done to prevent infection and lasting damage to sight.
