Repair Of A Nerve Injury With A Grafted Segment

Washington, DC rates for HCPCS 64895

A surgeon reconstructs a damaged nerve by inserting a segment of nerve tissue, taken from elsewhere in the body, into the gap left by the injury. This creates a bridge that the body's nerve fibers can slowly regrow across, rather than leaving the nerve ends unconnected. It is used when a nerve injury cannot be repaired by simply reattaching the two cut ends.
