Extra work done during the repair of a cut nerve when the two ends will not reach each other. A segment of the arm or leg bone is removed so the limb is slightly shortened, which brings the nerve ends together to be stitched without tension, and the bone is then fixed in its new position while it heals. It is billed in addition to the main nerve repair rather than on its own.
