Passes a probe through the skin into a further spinal bone and uses heat to destroy a small nerve running inside it that carries pain signals from the damaged bone. Interrupting that nerve can ease long-standing back pain coming from the vertebra itself rather than from a disc or joint. It is billed in addition to the main procedure when more than one spinal bone is treated.
